Staðarhraun - The Lava House
This former junior school became a family home some years ago and was purchased by the British specialist tour operator, Discover the World, in June 2002 to convert into guest accommodation for its clients. Extensive restoration work took many months and the house, furnished to high standards, was finally opened to its first guests in October of that year.
The house comprises five bedrooms, two bathrooms (WC, basin and shower), sizeable lounge with comfy leather sofas, an ample dining area plus kitchen/diner, a utility room, garden with children's play area, a hot tub and gas barbeque. There is one twin bedded room, two double bedded rooms and one triple bedded room plus another with bunk beds.
